Description

Since I imaged M 101 during February, March and April and now the light of SN2023ixf hit the earth, I had to revisit M 101. 12 hrs of Ha from before the SN were mixed with about 6 hrs of newly acquired broadband data. You can see an image of M 101 before the SN by using the mouse over or looking at revision B.

M 101 with its SN was the first target I imaged from my new astro balcony (the railing is still missing so it's a beer free balcony ... what a shame ...). Revision C shows a view from north (left), east (center) to south (right). I really like to setup the gear right next to my home and the amount of open sky is amazing. But I am surprised at how much wind there is. Especially after  having the house in the west and so basically acting as a wind shield. Maybe a 10'' Newtonian wind sail is not a very good idea

I guess SN2023ixf was a worthy first target for my new favourite place.
